A captivating exhibition highlighting the gladiator history of Pompeii has opened at Barcelona's Maritime Museum. The exhibition, titled 'Pompeii: The Last Gladiator,' will run from June 1 to October 15. It offers a unique blend of Pompeii's historical context and a virtual reality experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the daily life of a gladiator in the ancient city, the CatalanNews reports.

According to Roberto Panté, the artistic director of the exhibition, this is more than a traditional display; it is an opportunity to live and experience history firsthand. Panté emphasizes the importance of using virtual reality and other educational activities to engage younger generations and bring history closer to them.

The exhibition focuses on Pompeii's history through the lens of gladiators, acting as a bridge between the Roman city and its rich historical heritage. Visitors will have the chance to stroll through the streets of Pompeii, including the bustling Via Dell'Abbondanza, the city's central hub of economic activity, and the renowned Colosseum, where gladiatorial battles took place.

In addition to the virtual experience, the Maritime Museum will house over 150 artifacts borrowed from the Archaeological Museum of Naples. These treasures include marble statues, intricate mosaics, and comical masks, offering visitors a deeper connection to the ancient world of Pompeii.
