Xemei

Restaurants
It's not the same to say "yesterday we had dinner at an Italian restaurant" and "yesterday we had dinner at a Venetian restaurant." When Xemei opened in Poblesec, this clarification became essential. The twins ('xemei' in Venetian dialect) Stefano and Max Colombo brought their cuisine to Barcelona that went beyond spaghetti bolognese and quattro stagioni pizzas. They brought fish prepared as they do in the Veneto region, and we had to learn what 'sarde in saor' or 'baccalà mantecato' were. Another Italian cuisine is possible. The 'sarde' are the Venetian version of marinated sardines, and that cod is a brandade without any dairy ingredients.

At Xemei, they serve a variety that also includes baked mackerel and marinated anchovies, which you must definitely order to get into the spirit. The vintage tavern atmosphere, the hyperactivity of the "xemei" twins, the friendly yet unpretentious waiters, and the "buoni, buoni, buoni" dishes are reason enough to decide that you will come back.

But before that, finish the "bigoli in salsa veneziana," the grilled cuttlefish with polenta, the grilled octopus, or if you want to feel like lifelong Venetians, the Venetian-style veal liver. Their black spaghetti with cuttlefish is the best remedy against depression.

Average price €29 – €36
