The Municipal School of Music Can Ponsic began operating in the 2001-2002 academic year and has been managed by the L'Arc Música Foundation, an organization with fifty years of history in the field of music education.
The school is open to everyone, aiming to bring music closer to all audiences: to students through practical instruction and to the surrounding community through various outreach activities. The school's faculty consists of active professional musicians with extensive experience in pedagogy. EMM Can Ponsic provides specialized and inclusive attention to students with diverse abilities.
Some of the outreach activities are carried out in close collaboration with the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi District, particularly the monthly seminars for music specialists from public or private schools in the neighborhood. The school also holds auditions for students from these schools and those in special education programs.
EMM Can Ponsic is located in a stately house from 1849, listed in the catalog of architectural heritage protection in Barcelona. The building is shared with the Urban Guard of the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district, and the surrounding garden serves as a public park.
