BAU is a university center of arts and design located in Barcelona and attached to the Universitat de Vic - Universitat Central de Catalunya, which teaches official studies of Degree in Design and Degree in Fine Arts within the European Area of Higher Education.
BAU's mission is to be an engine of knowledge and innovation at the service of society. It focuses on the attention to students and their global training so that they incorporate the values of respect, equity, social commitment and responsibility towards people and professional rigor.
The quality of the BAU training, evaluated by the AQU (Agency for the Quality of the University System of Catalonia, by its acronym in Catalan), certifies the present and future of the BAU educational project.
History:
BAU was born in 1989 as a result of the concerns of a group of design professionals with a firm teaching and pedagogical vocation. That year, a center for higher studies in design was founded, disruptive, innovative and multidisciplinary that complements the models offered at that time by the most traditional and academic training centers in the city.
From its inception, BAU was inspired by the founding spirit of the Bauhaus, the mythical design school founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar (Germany) in 1919 and that revolutionized artistic training following rationalist and functional criteria with a clear vocation for social transformation.
