‘Les Traceurs’

Events
Date: July 7
Location: Passeig de Gràcia

A highliner will walk in the sky above Passeig de Gràcia on the occasion of Passeig de Gràcia‘s 200th anniversary.

This show will give you goosebumps and will see Passeig de Gràcia near Catalunya square temporarily transformed. The modernist buildings will fade into the background while you watch a tightrope walker out for a stroll in the sky. And enjoy an outstanding on-demand poetry session two hours before the show!

Grenoble, Annecy, Aussois, Paris, some Italian towns and Rio de Janeiro… All these cities have seen the show by the choreographer Rachid Ouramdane starring Nathan Paulin, an exceptional tightrope walker who only needs a slack line high above the ground to take a stroll that will grab everyone’s attention. Defying gravity, the artist blends into a landscape that is reinterpreted by his presence. In doing so, Ouramdane shares a message about the human capacity to respect the environments in which we live. The show is accompanied by a soundtrack by the musician Jean-Baptiste Julien in which we can hear Nathan Paulin’s testimony and so learn more about his feelings when he is high above.

The creator of the show is the choreographer Rachid Ouramdane, who is currently the director of Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse in Paris. His creations have a documentary element. He has collected and often used the diverse stories of minorities, victims of torture or natural disasters, developing a poetics of personal stories that he uses to bring people and situations from the real world into the world of art. This is not the first time that, as he will do in Barcelona, he takes the extreme athletes and artists with whom he works and places them in historic settings or spectacular landscapes. In this way, his reflections allude to ecology and the environment. One of these artists and athletes is Nathan Paulin, a French tightrope walker who holds a dozen World Records. His longest crossing being a 2240 m long highline on the Mont Saint-Michel in May 2022.

Nathan Paulin's walk will link the Telefónica building, at Portal de l'Angel, with the Generali building, on Paseo de Gracia with Gran Vía. You could see the start of the show from Catalunya square.

Produced by Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse.

Poet on duty (live). Two hours before the show, enjoy a poetry session that will surprise you. Ask for a poem about a particular subject or for any situation or mood, and they will recite it to you.
