Spain to suffer from water scarcity?

Expat news
Despite recent rainfall, Catalonia and the rest of Spain still face the threat of drought. The World Meteorological Organization warns that our planet may experience abnormally high temperatures year-round in the next five years. The summer period, in particular, is expected to see a significant temperature increase.

This phenomenon is attributed to the presence of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which trap heat, as well as the natural occurrence of El Niño, which has already begun to warm our planet. El Niño refers to the fluctuation of surface water temperature in the equatorial region of the Pacific Ocean, exerting a noticeable influence on climate patterns.

Concerning Spain, the State Meteorological Agency of Spain (AEMET) has already raised an alarm due to the mass drying out of numerous rivers that supply the kingdom with drinking and technical water. The Spanish government has announced plans to utilize alternative sources, such as desalination of seawater, to avoid water scarcity in the country.
