An exciting election day in Barcelona!

City News
Xavier Trías was crowned the winner of the municipal elections, winning 11 councillors, followed by Jaume Collboni of the PSC with 10 councillors and Ada Colau with 9 councillors. With 100% of the votes counted, Trias received a massive support from the citizens with 149,235 votes, securing his place in the city council… but not yet as a mayor!

The competition was tight, and now political alliances and agreements are key to Barcelona's future. ERC is positioned as the fourth political force with 5 councillors, followed by the PP with 4 councillors. In addition, Vox has managed to enter the City Council with 2 representatives. The CUP, Valents and Ciudadanos are out of the City Council.

With these results, the formation of the municipal government will depend on the alliances that will be forged in the next month, considering the balance of power between the three main lists. Undoubtedly, the political landscape has undergone significant changes since the previous elections, where ERC and Barcelona en Comú were leading in different districts.

Now, it remains to be seen how the negotiations will develop and who will be the next mayor of Barcelona. Let's stay tuned for the next chapters of this exciting political story.
